A Method for Solving Convex Quadratic Programming Problems Based on Differential-algebraic equations
In this paper, a new model based on differential-algebraic equations(DAEs) for solving convex quadratic programming(CQP) problems is proposed. It is proved that the new approach is guaranteed to generate optimal solutions for this class of optimization problems. This paper also shows that the conventional interior point methods for solving (CQP) problems can be viewed as a special case of the n...
متن کاملglobal results on some nonlinear partial differential equations for direct and inverse problems
A Note on the Asymptotic Expansion for a Regularization Approach of Higher Index Differential-Algebraic Equations
In an earlier paper [12] we were able to show the existence of asymptotic expansions for the solutions of some regularization procedures fo r higher index differential-algebraic equations in integer powers of the regularization parameter. Recent numerical experiments have led to the conjecture that the asymptotic expansion does not contain the first order term for autonomous systems. In the pre...
متن کاملA Note on Numerically Consistent Initial Values for High Index Differential-algebraic Equations
When differential-algebraic equations of index 3 or higher are solved with backward differentiation formulas, the solution can have gross errors in the first few steps, even if the initial values are equal to the exact solution and even if the stepsize is kept constant. This raises the question of what are consistent initial values for the difference equations. Here we study how to change the e...
متن کاملA Note on Kirkwood’s Algebraic Method for Decision Problems
The main objectives of this note are to point out some strengths and some limitations of Kirkwood’s algebraic method for decision problems, and to propose a modification to address the limitations. The modification is based on the valuation network technique, and it enables us to better relate Kirkwood’s method to the graphical techniques of valuation networks and influence diagrams.
